Margie Edith Cooper Mock

Margie Edith Cooper Mock, 96 of Hinton, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 10th, 2024 at the home of her granddaughter in Wake Forest, North Carolina following a short illness.

Margie was born September 30,1927 in Hinton, a daughter of the late Archie Edward and Gussie Mae Shrader Cooper.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Donald F. Mock, Sr., one son, Donald F. “Freddie” Mock, Jr. and a daughter, Sandra Honaker Yost; four brothers, Clarence “Whitt” Cooper, Raymond Cooper, Charles “Buster” Cooper and Jerry A. Cooper; three sisters, Imogene Ewing, Geraldine Kirby and Phyllis Berry; son in law Billy Ray Honaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Pivont and husband Ray, with whom she made her home in Hinton; six grandchildren, Kelly Brogan and husband Jim of Princeton, WV, Autumn Paluch and husband Ted of Wake Forest, NC, Kimberly Toth and husband James of Pt. Pleasant, WV, Lee Pivont and wife Dena of Hinton, Donald F. “D. F.” Mock III and wife Juli of Charleston, and Mollie Mock-Kaufman and husband Craig of Morgantown, WV; 18 great grandchildren, Tyler Ellison, Kelsey Reynolds (Keith), Katherine Brogan and fiancé Mark Blankenship, Payton Paluch, Landry Paluch, Quest Paluch, Evan Smith (Dustin), Avery Pivont, Gavin Pivont, Sullivan Pivont, Alexa England (Zane), Cole McCormack (Catie), Savannah Lidel (Matt), Chandler Haga (Tyler), Haydon Mock, Harper Mock, Roe Kaufman, and Cooper Kaufman; 14 great, great grandchildren; Lincoln, Langley and Boston England, Maddox Ellison, Adeline and Nora Reynolds, Ryder, Blake, Saylor and Suttyn McCormack, Gemma Garwood, Cambreigh Simpson, Leighton Lidel, and Sawyer Smith; sisters-in-law, Janie Cooper of Oak Hill, WV and Dorothy Mock of West Palm Beach, FL; daughters-in-law, Faye Mock of Rome,GA and Donna Sue Mock of Huntington, WV; son-in-law, Lance Yost of Point Pleasant, WV; several loving nieces and nephews also survive.

Margie, affectionately known as “Granny Margie” by her family and friends, was a lifelong resident of Hinton and was a member of Beech Run Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Throughout her life, she excelled in creating a beautiful and gracious home which welcomed anyone who came through the door. She loved her family dearly, having babysat all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed gardening, canning, and working on puzzles. Margie had an infectious smile and a gentle spirit that impacted all who knew her. Her loss has left a profound imprint on the heart of her family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Jeff Canterbury officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. Friends may call from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
