Roland Alfred Conner, 95, of Scott Depot, formerly of Cottageville, WV (Evergreen Hills Community) passed away December 22, 2023 at the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV following a brief illness

He was born August 28, 1928 in Spencer, WV the son of the late, Roscoe C. and Gertie Rebecca (Price) Conner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth Conner, Randel Conner, twin brother, Roger Conner and sisters, Muriel Webb and Margie Clarkson.

He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, was a retired mill operator from Century Aluminum and member of the United Steelworkers Union, Local #5668. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, D. Eloise (Morehead) Conner; son, Michael A. Conner of Charleston; daughters, Karen L. Casto (Jim) of Cottageville and Eydie Payne (Kevin) of Scott Depot; grandchildren, J.W. Casto, III (Jenna), Megan R. Casto, Morgan T. Casto and three step- grandchildren; great grandchildren, J. William Casto IV, Sophia Casto and step-great granddaughter, Gracie Divita; brother, James Conner of Rock Hill, SC; sister, Rose Marie “Toots” Somervill of Spencer and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 1 p.m. ~ Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Pastor Mark Price officiating. Entombment will follow in Jackson County Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Cottageville, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
